Todos Santos, Baja California Sur
Todos Santos is situated on the Tropic of Cancer, in the southernmost part of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico.
It is a one-hour drive north of Cabo S. Lucas and a one-hour drive south-west of La Paz.
The town is a heaven in the desert and
lies at the intersection of the Sierra de Laguna mountains, the
Pacific Ocean and the desert of Baja California. These three contrasting
elements blend in an incredibly suggestive scenery that gave birth
to the famous old saying: "He who has really lived in Todos Santos
needs to return, for he's struck by its contrasts and the wild charm
of nature".
Todos Santos was founded as a Mission in 1724 and,
as time passed, became the principal center for the production of
sugar cane; still nowadays the abundance of water makes this
land extremely fertile and donates first quality produce and
fruit year-round.
Todos Santos is primarily a place where
people can find real peace and total freedom of expression,
the reason why this area has been a destination for tourists and
numerous artists: It is home to many galleries, restaurants and
elegant hotels.
